I’m trying to squeeze a couple of extra bikes into the garage now that my partner is getting into riding. I was looking at hooks on the wall or ceiling – is that OK? I have carbon fibre wheels on my Orbea Wild FS e-bike and don’t want to damage them!

Generally speaking, there’s no issue with hanging a bike by its front wheel between rides – and, as you’ve guessed, it can make better use of your space.

If the hooks you buy have a rubberised or plastic coating, we can’t foresee any problem with using them with carbon rims. However, if they have a bare metal finish, we’d advise wrapping thick tape or similar around, to reduce the chance of them scratching the wheel.
