VERSTAPPEN IS THE LONE STAR FOR 50TH VICTORY

In Max Verstappen’s all-conquering year, he was once again victorious at Austin last weekend. Despite losing pole position for a track-limits penalty in qualifying, he came through from sixth on the grid to record his 15th win of the season – and the 50th of his career.

But it was much closer than he would have liked, as the opposition appear to have closed the gap. The degree of how much the upgraded Mercedes was quicker, though, was subsequently clouded by a post-race disqualification for second-placed Lewis Hamilton.
