Lots of people will know you as England’s goalkeeper, but you actually grew up in the United States. How did the culture there influence you?
The mentality in the States was completely different – it’s super competitive. It’s about being as physically fit as you can possibly be. When you’re not working, somebody else is working. It’s a tireless mentality and you’re always trying to get a leg up on somebody; you’re always trying to do something a bit better than somebody else.
