They certainly weren’t the favourites when the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup began on 5 October in India, but after winning all their games so far and breaking the tournament’s run record, the Proteas are looking good.
Since South Africa’s return to world cricket in 1991, we’ve never made it further than the semifinals of a world cup and at the start of this year’s tournament, the odds were not in our favour.
The bookies’ favourites from the start were India, Australia and reigning champions England.
But then the 2019 champs lost to Afghanistan in a shock defeat and five-time world
