Western Region Class 97/6 Permanent Way Machines (PWM)

00 GAUGE 4mm:1ft

1959 to 1998 ERA

Background to the model

HELJAN has an excellent reputation for producing accurate models of unusual and less well known locomotives, including single prototypes (as seen elsewhere in this issue of Rail Express Modeller) along with small shunting locomotives missed by other manufacturers. Over the years, they have been popular among 4mm scale modellers, with good sales justifying the investment in tooling.

The project to produce a range of Ruston & Hornsby 165DE 0-6-0 diesel-electric shunters commenced in 2019. It is a joint venture with Kernow Model Rail Centre and Model Rail magazine which mitigates the risk of producing such an unusual locomotive model. Kernow Model Rail Centre sells the 165DE in its Western Region guise as the Class 97/6 (Nos. PWM651-654) in weathered condition.

Seven different models are offered by Kernow
