HALF A CENTURY OF B.A.S.S

THAT FIRST MEETING

Picture the scene – 75 bass anglers converging on Weymouth for an open meeting about the future of bass angling. It’s spring 1973, and for some the night before is a long one, including four guys from Kent and Sussex – Brian Harris (Editor of ‘Angling’), Terry Hill and David Greenough (Art Director and Advertising Manager of ‘Angling’), and John Darling, the well-known columnist, author and general bass nut. They drove through the night in a camper van from London, no doubt to the strains of the car radio and ‘Angie’ by the Rolling Stones, ‘Money’ by Pink Floyd and ‘Band on the Run’ by Wings.
