Ann Davison had set out from Plymouth in her 23ft sloop Felicity Ann on 18 May 1952. Now it was November 1953, she was approaching New York and her voyage was at an end.

Now, I thought, there is nothing to do but get underway for the 79th Street Yacht Basin to complete the trip. A prospect that was immeasurably saddening.
