Tributes for Prof Coovadia, the ‘Madiba of health care’

The “Madiba of health care”, Professor Hoosen (Jerry) Coovadia, was an intellectual giant who will be remembered for his contributions to global health policies and groundbreaking research in HIV/Aids transmission from mother to child.

Coovadia, 83, died on Wednesday at his home in La Lucia, surrounded by his family.
