In the early hours of 23 February 2022, an emergency call handler answered the phone to a panicked man.
Steve Hendricks was frantically calling from his girlfriend’s home in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
‘I have no idea what’s happening,’ he said.
Only, his next words must have made even a hardened 911 operator recoil.
‘My girl swears that she found the severed head of her son in the basement,’ he said.
Police were called out to the home straight away, where Steve lived with his girlfriend, Tara Pekanich, and her 24-year-old son, Shad Thyrion.
