Flexibility is a vital component of a fit and healthy body. You should always stretch after workouts, but it’s also important to devote time to flexibility sessions. Stiff muscles and joints will prevent correct movement, and can cause injury and pain, and as yoga teachers will tell you, you’re only as young as your spine is flexible!

As you age. it’s natural to lose some flexibility - a baby can easily put its foot into its own mouth, but as we age, we only do this metaphorically! If nothing is done to prevent it, many people end up with a stiff and hunched posture in their later years. While you can’t hope to keep your body as mobile as a baby’s, you can aim to keep your spine and joints flexible and your muscles pliable well into old age.
