Life today isn’t kind to your posture: working on computers and laptops tends to lead to a curved upper spine and rounded shoulders, as well as a ‘head forward’ position, which can be uncomfortable and result in restricted mobility. Driving your car or sitting for long periods at a desk or in front of the TV also wreaks havoc on your spine, hamstrings and shoulders, and can end up ruining your posture.
There are four types of postural alignment:
1) Ideal alignment – an ‘s’-shaped spine with a natural curve in the lower back.
2) Lordosis/kyphosis – an increased curve in the lower or upper back, with muscle tightness as a result.
Flat back – spinal curves are flattened and the pelvis is tipped backwards.
