Help children discover wildlife

Many of today’s youngsters are missing out on one of life’s greatest joys – encountering wildlife close up. Unlike computer games and TV programmes, nature can give them a truly interactive experience, touching, picking up and collecting the things they find, from tadpoles to tiddlers and wildflowers to caterpillars. It can also give them opportunities to find their limits by taking controlled risks – climbing trees, making dens and discovering the outside world for themselves.

Most gardens are full of life, so they’re the perfect place for children to have their first brush with wildlife. Birds are the most obvious garden animals and can be seen and heard all year round.
