THE American National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) has a long history of sending satellites and people into space. It takes a big team to do this job.
Nasa was established in 1958. It’s administered by the US government and includes any science or technology related to space or aircraft. There are 10 Nasa centres across the United States.
Their headquarters are in Washington DC, and their mission control centre is in Houston, Texas. Most of the spacecraft are launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
About 18 000 people work for Nasa,
