The other day, while looking through my email inbox, I came across a link to a petition. Though it was being shared on a transport heritage website, it had originated with an ‘environmental’ source and was calling for the enforced closure of the Ffos-y-Fan opencast coal mine near Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales.
