Well I write this on Sunday 21 May, having spent the previous two days at Ossington, Nottinghamshire, at the very sad Robert Wilson Caterpillar sale, which amounted to over 420 examples of the make, plus hundreds of spares.

This was without doubt the largest sale in veteran, vintage and classic Caterpillars ever offered in the world, and in my opinion it’s not likely to be repeated.

Robert and his father Alan, were the ‘go to’ people in Europe for parts and Caterpillars. They saved all they could in the UK and every year imported containers of parts and tractors,
