ood news that Ian McConachie’s 1899 Allchin 7hp No. is back in steam having been totally rebuilt boiler-wise by Allison Engineering in Shropshire. Ian has asked Allison’s to sort out the big end, rebore the axle-box bearings, wheels and replace the very worn rear axle. Then it should be home to East Sussex where Ian has the opportunity to clean various parts up and paint the engine back to its former glory when it operated in the Black Country.
