WHY DO WE COLLECT THIS STUFF?

Numismatic author David Schwager attempted to answer the question why we collect at an August 11 educational program presentation he gave during the recent American Numismatic Association convention in Pittsburgh. Schwager is the author of the Sample Slabs book and president of the Orange County Coin Club in California.

Researchers provide various explanations on the psychology of collecting. Schwager’s presentation explored these views and offered additional ideas to consider.
