Do good things come in small packages? Vespa GTS RST 125

I’d guess that when most people talk about a Vespa GTS, it’s the 300cc version that’s at the front of their minds. If that’s you then it may come as a surprise when I point out that of the (approximately) 10k members of the GTS family currently registered for use on UK roads, just under a third are learner legal 125s. That’s a large proportion of Vespa UK’s market, and illustrates how important it was for Piaggio to get the latest RST variant just right.

For those of you who missed last month’s issue, or have been living in a cave, there’s a new GTS in town and here’s a quick recap of the story so far. Towards the back end of 2022, Piaggio surprised many in the trade by announcing a revamped, new and much improved GTS. It’s often the case that Piaggio’s definition of ‘new’ is very different from the rest of the world, and in the company’s eyes this usually involves a new horncast with some funky graphics. In this case any cynics were quickly proven to be very wrong indeed. What emerged was the ‘RST’ (ReSTyled) version, a name that barely does credit to the changes Piaggio has introduced across the GTS family.
