“Natural history television doesn’t get much better than the BBC’s new series,, which shows you how dinosaurs really lived,” says TV scriptwriter David Helton. In the October 1999 issue of , he presents a behind-the-scenes look at how the show was made. “After , the dinosaurs-as-wildlife idea was a natural,” says executive producer Tim Haines, “an answer to the question the movie so blatantly begged: ‘I wonder what they were really like’.” Helton asserts that the series “has probably created the nearest thing so far to a genuine time machine”.
