For the first time in the show’s history, the new season is based on a book, Delicate Condition by Danielle Valentine. As in the novel, the plot centres on an actress who has gone through several unsuccessful rounds of IVF.“As the buzz around her recent film grows, she fears that something may be targeting her – and her pursuit of motherhood,”the summary from network FX states. Valentine described her book to Entertainment Weekly as“essentially a horror novel about pregnancy”, adding that she was inspired by the film Alien.
