Getting a big boost

There can’t be many MG enthusiasts whose passion for the brand started with an affection for diesel Rover 200s but it’s just one of the many unique things about David Samuels and his car. The security specialist is “Northampton born and bred” and initially started off with a thing for fast Fords.

“Cars have always been a hobby for me. I started off with a Fiesta 1.6 Si as my first car and ended up with an XR3i Convertible. I hadn’t given Rovers or MGs a second thought but, when the Escort died, I just needed a cheap run around and the only thing I could find was a five-door Rover 200 diesel with the old L-series. I found that I actually quite liked it.”
