PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Colorado continues to be a chameleon as it blows in the wind while becoming something that it never was and changing into something that will only continue to change.

Once again because of timing the information that you read here will be old news so the best way to keep updated is to go to Coloradotrapper.com for the most current information, and possibly become a member of the Colorado Trapper and Predator Hunters Association.

With three new Commission appointments to the CPW Commission in July there is once again change, and not for the good. With a likely voter initiative, outright Fur Ban in Denver this coming November there is additional change. Also, with anticipation of an upcoming Citizens Petition at the Commission level there could be significant changes, restrictions or prohibitions on the horizon and talks of a 2024 Statewide Ballot Initiative to Ban the Harvest of Mountain Lions appears to be imminent as the opposition is working through the Title Board and the Secretary of the State to once again allow the Colorado voters to decide the fate of Wildlife Management while casting aside science, scientists, and the proven track record of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.

By the time you read this our Outdoorsman’s Days event will likely be over and a follow-up report will be distributed to members and be on the website as well.

September of 23 through November of 24 are likely to be the most toxic times that we have seen as we prepare to defend, organize, collaborate and defeat what the evil forces continue to throw at us.

While things might seem insurmountable all we can do is promote the difference between right and wrong while trying to sustain the history and tradition of our pursuits while bringing logic, facts, data and grass roots engagement at all levels of the sportsmen community.

One thing is certain, the winds will continue to change Colorado and the West and the chameleon will continue to change as well.

Stay tuned. Keep your nose in the wind and your eyes on the skyline.

Dan Gates

President

SECRETARY’S REPORT

Hi Everyone! We would like to welcome our new members Brad Hageman, Akron, CO and Robert Gandy, Longmont, CO.

Our Outdoorsman Days/Convention will be held at the Pathfinder Regional Park Event Center, at 6655 State Hwy 115, Florence, CO 81226 over August 11th, 12th and 13th, 2023. We will need volunteers to help set-up/during the event and tear down. Please let me know if you would be willing to help out. Also, you can go to coloradooutdoorsmansdays.com or coloradotrapper.com for the most up to date information such as Sponsor and Vendor forms. There will be updates clear up to the event.

Our Annual Board Meeting will be held on Sunday, August 13th, 2023 at 9:00 am with the Membership Meeting to follow at 10:00 am in the Pathfinder Regional Park Event Center. This year we will hold elections for Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, NE Director and SW Director. All current reports from the Board Members are on the website.

I would like to remind everyone, please continue signing up New Memberships. This has always been important but especially now.

Please make sure if you have an email address, I have it. I also need a current phone number. This is the only way we are keeping our membership up to date with the current information and events on a timely fashion because of the rising costs of printing and postage and the unreliability of delivery of mail and the inability to communicate immediately. We will only send out hard copies when absolutely necessary. So if you want to be kept in the loop make sure I have your correct EMAIL Address. We now have PayPal up and running on the Coloradotrapper.com website. You can renew your Membership or Join our association. We also have merchandise that is available for purchase. This tool has been very effective and efficient so far. Please make sure you continue to checkout the website for updated information. This will be the most current.

Please let me know if you have an address, email or phone number change, that way I can make sure I have the correct information. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at 719 275-4077 or office@coltpha.com.
