LET'S PLAY BLOOD & CROWNS

Blood & Crowns is a skirmish wargame, set between Robert the Bruce's victory at Bannockburn (in 1315), up until the outbreak of the War of the Roses (in 1455), thus primarily covering the Hundred Years’ War of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.

Gameplay involves typically between 20 and 50 models per side; D10s are used throughout with ten to fifteen required. The game also requires a pack of cards for each player – a standard pack can be used but themed packs are available from Firelock. Inches are used as the standard measurement. While designed to be played in 28mm 125), any scale that allows individual casualty removal will work fine (so probably 15mm upwards). The game focuses on this conflict, with army lists for England (in both France and Scotland), France (early, Joan of Arc, and late), Scotland (border reivers and in France), Spain (Castilian Civil War), and unaligned (free companies, routiers, and pirates). Each list has one or two special characters who can be fielded. The list is good for the Hundred Years’ War, although I can already feel the need for an expansion to cover all the other interesting conflicts that were happening at this time (there were MANY! Hussites, Teutonic War, Great Frisian War, etc). Before I get too carried away, what we have is a good start and gives enough variety for players that it can be adapted to other conflicts.
