Yap Lian Sing has invested in durian cultivation for about 4 years now. However, his durian trees are not in a good shape. Although under the right weather conditions, these trees do not seem to flower at all. This has cause him to be sceptical, especially when he sees other farmers’ 3 or 4-year-old durian trees begin to flower and bear fruits.
However, this changed completely when he met Tan Kok Siang, a durian farmer from Simpang Renggam and learned the steps of caring for young trees from him. Yap Lian Sing managed to help him make a few tweaks and the trees started to grow normally.
SWIFT ACTION TO SAVE THE DURIAN TREES
Yap Lian Sing’s durian orchard which is located in Kulai, Johor covers an area of about 5 acres. The main durian variety cultivated there is the Musang King variety.
