WHILE looking through bulb catalogues, I often wonder whether the larger and more spectacular spring-flowering beauties do not steal one’s interest and cause one to be a little unfair to the smaller subjects, which could so often provide a most welcome display simply because many bloom very early.
This is a point that is worthy of some thought at the present time, when the ordering and planting of many bulbs must be considered as something to be done at once. The very fact that many bulbs flower as early in the year as January or February should give one a clue regarding its planting date, which simply means that the earlier such subjects are planted, the more satisfactory will be the result.
