We can’t say we’re surprised to see the DJI Air 3, because its existence has, for the past few months, been pretty much the worst kept secret in tech. We also aren’t super-shocked at the Air 3’s final form, which mixes up the classic Air style and borrows heavily from the design of the recently released Mavic 3 and 3 Pro. Neither are we stunned by the new controller, which is basically the same as that of the latest Mini. But has the Air 3 thrown us a curveball in terms of its features? Well, almost.

The baby is still truly united with the bathwater, as it were: the Air range remains home to a mid-sized, mid-range drone, one with enthusiast-level qualities a step ahead of the smaller Mini. Many of its features can be found elsewhere, like the obstacle detection, hyperlapse and focus tracking, which appear to trickle down from the Mavic 3.
