The owner of this handsome 1954 David Brown aircraft tug is himself something of a legend. Dai Owen is 13 years older than the tractor featured here, and he is still as active and as sharp as many people who are half of his age.

Keeping busy

Although Dai is way past the age where most people would have reached for their pipe and slippers, our man, Dai, is still working as a haulier, driving trucks on an almost daily basis. Dai bought his first lorry as a 17-year-old, and he has been in the haulage business ever since. “I’ve done a bit of all sorts, too. In quiet times, I would do some sheep shearing and beating for pheasants. Back then, we did just about anything to make ends meet!” In his spare time, of which there isn’t much, Dai collects beautiful old tractors. Some of these tractors run, some are projects and some he takes to shows. Having his own haulage business, Dai has access to some wonderfully large sheds in which to store his
