ARD WORK PAYS OFF

THE ROLLING HILLS OF THE YORKSHIRE DALES PLAY HOST TO ONE OF THE UK’S MOST RENOWNED MOUNTAIN BIKING EVENTS – ARD ROCK, AN ENDURO LIKE NO OTHER.

People come for the racing and demo bikes, but they end up returning year after year for much more. Joe Rafferty and the team have created one of Britain’s greatest mountain biking festivals, based around the love of riding full-on in rugged terrain and partying just as hard afterwards.

As you drive down to Fremington, nestled in a valley near Reeth, North Yorkshire, the event village stands out with a flourish of colours and flags waving in the brisk breeze. It’s much bigger than I’d imagined, with nearly 150 trade stalls – from giants such as Maxxis and Santa Cruz down to small independent businesses – surrounded by the camping fields.
