A new era for international women’s football

The tipping point may have been England’s 20-0 evisceration of Latvia, a match so pointless that even the winning manager was unhappy. Or maybe it was Belgium’s19-0 butchering of Armenia, Sweden’s 15-0 romp in Georgia, or any of the16 other 2023 Women’s World Cup qualifying matches in the European zone that ended with one team scoring double-figures and the opposition zero.
