Inappropriate behaviour?

It was 25 years ago when I painted black-and-white chequers onto the flat tank of my OHV Norton, the reasoning for which was twofold. Firstly, I wanted to ape Freddie Hicks’s AJS Brooklands colour scheme and secondly (and probably as importantly…) I wanted to thumb my nose at the purists.
