BOXING AND OPERA; IT WORKS!

BOXING and opera. A cultural crossover, me and probably most fight fans didn't anticipate. BBC Radio 3 recently featured a performance of Champion, an operatic, jazz infused dramatisation of the life of true great Emile Griffith. A story so beautifully and evocatively portrayed in Donald McRae’s biography A Man’s World; in describing Griffith’s exposure to love, sex and death, the book articulates a human triumph over fear and hate.
