Burn a DVD today and there’s no guarantee it will be readable invarious layers that make it up can literally peel apart. When this happens, the disc becomes unreadable. There’s no way to ensure that it won’t happen to your discs, so making copies of your personal discs every few years makes sense – or, better, backing them up to an alternative medium, like a local hard drive or online storage.
