V12 DISTRIBUTOR UPGRADE

One of the earliest evolutions of electronic ignition was devised by Lucas with its Oscillating Pick-Up System, or OPUS for short. In 1971, for example, the OPUS AB3 ignition system, which featured an ignition amplifier, was fitted to the Jaguar V12, Aston Martin V8, and several other high-performance engines. The design was improved upon throughout the time it was installed on the Jaguar V12 engine (up until around 1980), including the use of two ignition coils. However, nowadays the reliability and availability of parts, such as the amplifier and pick-up are sometimes a problem, so modern upgrades have become popular.
