Q The other day I had a tuna salad, then an hour later felt very warm and started to flush. Then I came out in a red rash. It wasn’t itchy, but I did also feel dizzy and sick. A friend gave me an antihistamine and in about 15 minutes I was back to normal. Am I allergic to tuna after all these years?
A Rest assured, probably not! It sounds like food poisoning. Tuna and mackerel contain a chemical that, if stored in warm conditions, turns into scombrotoxin, the main component of which is histamine. As well as the symptoms you describe, it can
