Rafiq Rohan’s legacy lives on

IT IS WITH great sadness that we learnt of the return to the Mercy of God of our friend, comrade, freedom fighter and respected journalist, Rafiq Rohan.

Rafiq was a champion for human rights and dedicated his life to fighting for justice and establishing a non- racial society.

He was raised in Durban in a mixed-race Christian family and was exposed to racism and the horrors of apartheid at an early age. Rafiq grew up in difficult circumstances and valued the importance of education early on.

He was badly disfigured in an accidental fire at home when he was a boy and endured living a life with taunts
