When you build a 1/4-scale biplane, you may have trouble getting the large, one-piece wings in your vehicle. Two-piece wings are better, but three-piece wings seem to be the best option. However, many 1/4-scale biplane kits are not offered with three-piece wings, so sometimes you just have to “do it yourself.” And this is what I’ve done with the Balsa USA 1/4-scale SE5a kit.
The basic idea is to make a center wing section and two outer panels for each wing. The upper and lower center sections always stay attached to the model. At the field, you just plug the outer panels into the center sections and tighten the hold-down screws. Of course, don’t forget the interplane struts for the outer panels. When all the parts are assembled, the wing is as rigid and solid as any one-piece wing. And
