University challenged Aberystwyth National, July 28-30

A lot of water’s gone under the bridge since the last time scooterists took over the town and any comparison between then and now is irrelevant, so I won’t bother. However, judging by the number of scooters I passed on the road into Wales I certainly wasn’t alone in looking forward to Aberystwyth’s resurrection as a rally venue. Having endured the almost unavoidable selection of motorways necessary to get me across the Welsh border, suddenly the road opened up in front of me and I found myself among some of the most scenic, enjoyable and at times technically rewarding riding I’ve encountered in quite some time. Far sooner than expected, I reached Aberystwyth and the university campus that we’d call home for the weekend.
