National ticket office closure consultation deadline extended

THE public consultation into proposals to close up to 974 ticket offices across Department for Transport-controlled operators (RE327) has been extended until September 1.

The Rail Delivery Group (RDG) confirmed the extension on July 26, the day the original consultation was due to close.

Transport Focus and London TravelWatch said that more than 170,000 responses had been received by the original final day.

In a statement the RDG said: “in increasing the time available, train operators are listening to feedback and hope that more people will have their say in how tickets are sold at stations. Together with the extensive and ongoing engagement with accessibility
