Compromises! Compromises!

Why didn’t I plan ahead? Or think for a moment that my vision of the CG125 looking like a racy sixties-style Honda would involve some fundamental alterations?

Keen to get things moving after the fuel tank and side-panels had been returned after being sprayed silver with black lining by Steve Coker here in Edenbridge I inspected the parts. Steve had done a great job, even also applying matt black to the otherwise-invisible underside surfaces.

But the tank also came with a warning from Steve: “Have you looked inside the tank? There’s quite a lot of rust.”

I groaned inwardly. Why didn’t I check? Sometimes enthusiasm gets the better of you to see results. Certainly that tank looked great, but what was the risk of using it as it was?
