magnetic clocks appeared in the post, I made up a little rubber seating gasket from an inner tube and set them on the fork bracket. The existing cables were in good condition, just needing a light clean-up, and fitted with no problem. However, the speedo cable seemed short unless routed over the top of the engine (as it was) but the female screw was a bigger diameter than the magnetic clock’s male – yet fitted a chronometric perfectly. I tried the tacho cable on the speedo and that fitted perfectly, so I had to order a replacement speedo cable which would route under the frame. The throttle and air lever cables were reusable and fitted, along with the re-plated handlebars. The ignition switch bracket had gone missing, so I made up another from a piece of stainless plate and the lights switch popped into the clocks bracket. With the front brake and clutch cables fitted, the cable runs ideally went over the top of the clocks, but when routed around them, the cable exited the lever at a foul angle. Eventually, I removed the handlebars and fitted the straight bars which had come with the bike; they seemed a better arrangement so were sent off for plating, except they were stainless, so only a polish was needed!
