It was while reviewing for the previous issue of Best Buys Audio & AV that we first encountered Revival Audio, an entirely new operation hailing from Alsace in France, close to the German and Swiss borders. Although a new company, it has been co-founded by industry stalwarts who have significant experience: what they call “nearly four decades of ‘savoir-faire’ behind many well-known flagship models among top-tier brands”.
CTO and design engineer is Daniel Emonts, his experience spanning Altec-Lansing, Focal-JMLab and most recently Dynaudio, where he was senior R&D engineer of acoustics. His Revival co-founder Jacky Lee was also resident at Dynaudio, ultimately as Chief Commercial Officer, having previously worked with IBM in his home country Taiwan before leading the business establishment of Dynaudio China from 2016.
That’s a solid grounding in both engineering and commercialisation, and it showed in the company’s first pair of designs, the Atalante 3 and 5 models, both large and gorgeous designs. The Atalante 3 went on to win a Sound+Image 2023 award.
