Wavetrain Cinemas is no stranger to awards: its home cinema designs have won many Sound+Image awards and Asia-Pacific awards from CEDIA, global peak body for smart-home professionals. But this project netted Wavetrain CEDIA’s ultimate accoldate: ‘Best Home Cinema: Global’. Meaning it’s the best in the world.
All the more credit to the Sydney-based company, then, when you consider that this project for a basement room had the briefest of briefs from the home owners.
“The client’s brief was simply that he wanted an amazing home cinema,” says Wavetrain Cinemas’ David Moseley, “or to use his own words: ‘surprise us’.”
Far from feeling bewildered, however, Wavetrain’s team was ready to jump on this very general initial guidance.
“This has become a common occurrence for us,” says David Moseley. “Clients are oftencalibration. We rarely repeat a design, and even if a client asks for a specific design, we will customise it to the client and the architecture of the main house.”
