In the main issues of Sound+Image magazine we regularly feature home cinemas which have been custom-installed by experts: the full monty, the film-lover’s dream of a theatre room at home to which the owners can retire for a full-blown movie experience.
The home cinema room shown above is in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, and was the creation of Andersons AVI in Victoria. It went on to win a Sound+Image Gold Award for its outstanding design and for the performance of its audio, for which Andersons was supported by Steve Spurrier of Studio Connections, and the imaging system, for which Andersons involved Paul Kutcher of Visual Fidelity, distributor of Stewart Filmscreen.

And it’s the screen which most impresses on first acquaintance with this home cinema, because the angle of view from the seats is far greater than the norm for such rooms; most home cinemas don’t go much above 40 degrees wide. With the screen here, some 4.5 metres in width for a 175-inch diagonal, the
