I’m looking at two editions of A Guide Book of United States Coins, a.k.a the Red Book. One is obviously brand new, whereas the other is old and heavily used. The latter’s spine is separated from its back cover.
I measured the outside dimensions and was surprised to find that they were essentially the same. Thickness differentiates the two, however, as the new edition has nearly twice the number of pages. Of course, much of the increase is caused by all of the U.S. coins that have been issued in the last 66 years. Design changes, new commemoratives and bullion collectibles have all added to the increased number of
