Adventurous brothers make waves with model boats

THEY’VE sailed a toy pirate ship almost 6 000km from the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean Sea, sent LEGO toys on a spacecraft to Mars and explored the ocean floor. Ollie and Harry Ferguson (pictured), two brothers from Scotland, have long enjoyed the thrill of adventure.

Now they’ve launched two model boats that will sail around Antarctica to help understand climate conditions in the area. The brothers were inspired by the expeditions of British seafarer James Clark Ross, who ventured around Antarctica in 1839. Ollie (13) and Harry (11) built tiny replicas of James’ boats, equipped with scientific instruments that’ll transmit data back to them.

The data will contain information about locations, air temperature, sea temperature and the pH levels of the water surrounding Antarctica. Harry also insisted on mounting cameras on the boats because he wants to see the penguins there.
