B-BBEE used as a shield to benefit politically-connected

‘promotes cadre deployment’

Affirmative action has been in place for almost 25 years. The youth of today, who are mainly job seekers, were not affected by apartheid laws but find themselves jobless and facing a bleak future. Many of our qualified and experienced citizens are seeking greener pastures abroad while our economy is on the decline. It is therefore time to review affirmative action with a view to assess its impact on the economy and the unemployment crisis facing the country.

I consider it an honour to represent the IFP in this important debate of a motion (raised by Shameen Thakur-Rajbansi of the Minority Front) that has wide-ranging implications across our country.
