I've long had a desire to explore southern Africa's heritage sites – and western Zimbabwe's Khami Ruins, a short drive from Bulawayo, was at the top of my bucket list. Leaving Bulawayo, where avenues are framed by the beautiful purple blooms of jacaranda trees each spring, cityscape transforms to single-storey residential areas.
