Q I have a bad bunion on both feet and wonder if it’s worth getting them sorted out surgically? They are sore – but not unbearable – but the main problem is they stop me from wearing nice shoes!
A Doctors call a bunion a hallux valgus – that’s medical jargon for your big toe being angled towards your second toe with a deformity at the base of the big toe – that is, the knuckle part. This bulge can become inflamed and sometimes the overlying skin gets irritated. The big toe may also overcrowd the adjacent toe, causing it to become uncomfortable.
