As many readers will know, it was the efforts of Harry Ferguson that brought us the Ferguson System of mounted implements, using three-point linkage and automatic depth control. The Ferguson TE-20 range of tractors was launched in the summer of 1946 and became very popular, until the arrival of the Ferguson 35 tractor in late 1956.
The 35 brought more sophistication and was the result of a fresh design developed after the ‘merger’ of Ferguson with the Canadian Massey-Harris company in 1953. It featured a six-speed gearbox, the option of a dual clutch providing live hydraulics and power take-off, and more powerful engines too!
