This is the part of an engine build that I always find most rewarding. Almost all of the donkey work has been done, and we can now see the engine coming together as we close the cases up. That’s when things, visually at least, start to look like they’re taking shape. To get us to that point, the job list is: firstly fitting bearings and seals, which we’ll need to warm the cases up for. Then assemble and fit the loose gears and output shaft, being careful to get the gears on facing the right way, before finally fitting our gaskets and closing the cases up. All relativity easy and straightforward jobs, if I take my time and don’t try to rush anything, as that’s when mistakes usually happen.
